Winter surfing in Vladivostok

Vladivostok is the city of people with strong spirit. We are used to weather challenges. We are not scared of hurricanes, snowfalls or storms – we just dress warmly, wrap ourselves in a raincoat and go out as if nothing’s happened. It’s hard to impress a local resident with a temperature of +5 degrees celsius on the New Year’s Eve or a seagull flying tail first if the wind is too strong.

But winter surfing is a relatively new for Primorsky Krai phenomenon. It’s new, but I would say, inevitable. Surfing became a rapidly growing sport, and in recent years it gained popularity among local fans of extreme sports and the sea. And, of course, cold weather and snow cannot stop surfers from riding the waves in winter season.

When it’s below zero and snowing outside, all you need is a thicker wetsuit, stronger tea in a thermos and a warm company of friends.

Today we present to your attention a small photo story about winter surfing in Vladivostok. By the way, if you also like riding the waves among ice floes and sea lions or you’ve always wanted to try it, contact us and we will tell you how to do it in such a unique and interesting place like Vladivostok!
